Fire Fogging Systems Successfully Extinguishing Car Fire at RAF Manston using 6 litres of water in 21 seconds.
On arrival at the RAF Manston training ground, we were approached by two Fire Officers asking “How much water do you have on board?” Our response was “150 litres”.
Slightly puzzled, the officer asked “What do you think you are going to do with that amount of water? ”We replied “Hopefully extinguish this car fire”.
One officer responded “This could be very embarrassing, there are 20 senior fire officers here to witness this” whilst the other explained, “We attended a car fire on Saturday night with three water tenders, each carrying between 1300 to 1600 litres of water and we were down to the last 30 litres before extinguishing the fire, now you are telling us that you are going to extinguish this fire with 150 litres”. Our response was “If it takes 150 litres then the Fire Fogging System will have struggled!”
